The European Parliament Elections will be held this Thursday, May 22nd 2014.
At an evening event on Friday May 16th organised and hosted by West Highland College UHI (Fort William) Dave Thompson MSP (Yes) debated with Charles Kennedy MP (No) on whether Scotland should be an independent country. Mr. Kennedy represents Ross, Skye and Lochaber at Westminster and Mr Thompson Skye, Lochaber and Badenoch at Holyrood.
The Oban Times is reporting on a stushie surrounding Tory MSP for the Highlands and Islands Jamie McGrigor and his withdrawal from an independence debate on Skye. Now, there are all sorts of reasons why someone might pull out from a debate but in this case it is being reported that he was given his marching orders by the No campaign organisation Better Together.
Well, it has been some week already and it is only Tuesday.
Gary Wilson, a Better Together co-ordinator with Edinburgh East Labour Party, has defected to Yes and joined Labour for Independence.

Alex Salmond delivered a passionate speech at the SNP conference which focused on using a Yes vote as a platform to build a better Scotland. In one part of his speech he gave a "cast iron guarantee" that Trident would be removed from an independent Scotland and instead "we would build a system of childcare that will be the envy of the world."
