You wait your whole lifetime for a cartoon character to support Scottish independence and then two come along in the same week! Refer to our previous story about Newsnet's Duggy Dug for the other cartoon character.
Astérix's latest adventure, to be published in October this year, will see him and his constant companion Obélix travel to Scotland where they discover whisky, bagpipes and the Loch Ness monster.
The author of this new Astérix story Jean-Yves Ferri is quoted as saying "there was an allusion to the independence referendum debate, showing all the clans divided and uniting" and "it's a symbol, for Scotland united and free".
Perhaps Astérix will also answer that perennial question "what did the Romans ever do for us?"
More information can be found on the click on the Astérix website.
