Today, June 10th 2014, the new top level domain (TLD) ".uk" becomes available. Hmmm, is that good timing?
You will probably be familiar with the existing top level UK domains such as ".co.uk" or ".org.uk". This new TLD saves on a few precious characters and will co-exist with those slightly longer domains.
The new ".scot" TLD is scheduled to become available in the summer of 2014. Unfortunately, there haven't been any recent announcements but it would be nice to have it ready for September this year. That would be good timing.
Speaking about the .scot top level domain First Minister Alex Salmond said:
"The time is ripe for the worldwide family of Scots to have their own domain, reflecting an online community defined by a shared commitment to Scottish identity, culture and economic promotion."
We wonder if anyone has booked the ".rUK" top level domain?
